My baby is one year
HuuHH!! My baby, I am talking about my site which completed one year on 19 July,2006. First I thank to all those who pushed me to have my site. Thanks to those who helped me in solving the technical parts of my site. I have discovered many new features till today after hosting my own site. In this one year I went through backend things like we call it the content mangaement system for your site like Mambo, Zoomla etc. Even I went through some PHP sripts, mySQL etc. Thanks to WordPress for giving a great blog which I have installed to express my thoughts. Now I am planning to give my baby a new look in it’s 2nd year. Let’s see how I manage it.
No commentsMumbai blast and common Mumbaikar
Hain dil hain mushkil jeena yahan, jara haske, jara bachke yeh hain mumbai meri jaan. I remember this song in one of Raj Kapoors old classic hit film. Mumbai as always reffered as the city that never sleeps, commercial capital of India and all bla bla things. 11th July as usual every Mumbaikar left his house early in the morning to start his daily routine may be his daily job, attending a interview etc. Even I started my daily life on 11th July the same way. But on the way back home during evening in the bus, I or say every Mumbaikar never knew that after a couple of minutes something was going to explode this city. This time the target was the western railway which runs from Virar to Churchgate. It’s through this railway every Mumbaikar starts his/her daily life.
I was in the bus when in between I heard someone speaking on mobile phone that some blast has taken place in Mumbai. But did not paid much attention to it. But as soon as I reached Borivali flyover at around 7.00p.m I saw a couple of ambulances and police vans heading towards Borivali station. Now I felt that somethng has really hit this city hard again. Yes it was again history repeating itself like the 1993 bomb blast. 7 bomb blasts on the western railway stations. As soon as I reached Borivali station I saw the whole station was taken over by Mumbai police, fire brigade. The local Mumbaikar was busy making the road clear so that the injured can be taken to the hospital easily. The whole road from Borivali station till Bhagwati hospital was full of the ambulance, police vehicle sirens. I just can’t explain the scene which I saw, the injured people etc. I recently read that one big magazine pulished Mumbai as a rude city. Today every common Mumbaikar has helped each other. There was no difference of caste or creed. Only a helping hand to every injured and to his/her family members. So my question goes how can one say Mumbai is a rude city? The whole night Bhagwati hospital was flooded with people searching for their mssing ones and those who were injured. If the scene at one hospital was so terrible just imagine about other hospitals. This night every Mumbaikar has not slept calmly that counts me also.
Salaam Mumbai and all the Mumbaikars. No matter what the circumstances are we will stand up again.
1 commentMumbai rains
Once again the starting of July. After a long gap of 20/25 days black monsoon clouds started gathering over Mumbai city. Finally rains have started pouring again and I felt relaxed when the cool breeze touched by body. It was raining normally on Saturday and Sunday. But on Monday morning the force of the monsoon increased, again throwing a flash back on 25July,2005. Most of the services like the train and normal road traffic was disrupted. Minor incidents of waterlogging were reported on Monday. But I was able to reach home safely. Next morning on Tuesday, heavy downpouring was seen. Since the rains had decided to pour heavily I left early at 1.00pm from work. On the way back to home I saw water logging at MIDC,Andheri East and on the Western Express Highway at Mahananda diary, Jogeshari. Whole traffic was on hault on this route. Local residents from the nearby societies and college going youngsters were a helping hand to the people stuck up in the waterlogged areas. That’s what we Mumbaikar’s are. No matter you belong to which caste, religion or region, Mumbaikars are always there to give a helping hand to each other in such natural calamities. It just reminded me of 25th July, when I was stuck up in the water till chin level. Well last year the rainfall was around 942mm in Mumbai which was the highest rainfall recorded in Mumbai. But this time it was just arounf 145mm of rainfall as per the paper and tv news bulletins. Today the city is back to normal. Hope that history will never repeat back like 25/7.
